Magpies Didak suffers injury setback

Veteran and premiership player Alan Didak will miss Collingwood’s NAB Cup campaign following tearing his abductor muscle.

The 29-year-old who was on track to be fully fit for the pre-season competition after enduring a 2011 season which was riddled with injury suffered the injury at a training session on Monday and will be out of action for at least the next four weeks.

“He (Didak) has had scans to confirm the injury and now will go through a rehab schedule to hopefully get him back and ready for round one of the home and away season,” Collingwood chief of football Geoff Walsh told the club’s official website, www.collingwoodfc.com.au

Didak admitted that he was extremely disappointed to have sustain the injury, especially in the later stages of the pre-season training.

“I was having a good pre-season and feeling positive about 2012,” commented Didak on Tuesday morning.

“I hit the ground running in Arizona after not having the season I would’ve liked last year, and continued to do all the training after Christmas.”

“It’s extremely frustrating and disappointing to be sidelined for a few weeks, but hopefully I can recover well, get back and play some good footy in the early part of the season,” added Didak who has played 202 games for the Magpies since he was drafted with the third overall pick in the 2000 Draft.
