Trinidad & Tobago have secured their second straight Caribbean T20 crown, thus earning them qualification into the lucrative champions league tournament, with a dominant 63-run victory over Jamaica in the final.

While Dwyane Bravo played a sensible knock for Trinidad & Tobago after skipper Denesh Ramdin won the toss and elected to bat first with the West Indian international finding his way to 49 from 43 deliveries, an innings that included three boundaries and four sixes, helped by cementing one end against a formidable Jamaican bowling attack.

Bravo eventually departed with the score at six for 133 from 18.3 overs, an already respectable total for the defending Caribbean T20 Champions, however things just got better for them as Kieron Pollard blasted twenty-six from the final over to lift his side to six for 168 from their allotted twenty overs – Pollard finishing not out on 39 from 13 deliveries which included one four and four sixes.

Chasing a big total Jamaica had to get off to a quick start however opening batsmen Nkrumah Bonner and Danza Hyatt were only able to manage five from the opening two overs. In addition to the slow start to the run chase the Jamaican’s innings was thrown into disarray when Bonner felt the pressure from the slow start and wanted a quick run after Hyatt had hit the ball to Kieron Pollard who was inside the circle and Bonner couldn’t manage to get back into his crease on time.

The next over, bowled by Ravi Rampaul, was a maiden, and the required run-rate had already shot up above 10 runs per over.

When Marlon Samuels was dismissed after being deceived by a Samuel Badree googly, and Dwyane Bravo had Danza Hyatt caught in the deep in the eighth over the final ended as a contest as Trinidad and Tobago ran away with the contest securing the 63-run-victory and their reputation as the best Twenty20 side in the Caribbean.

Some late hitting by Carlton Baugh added respectability to the Jamaican score however his unbeaten 39 from 23 deliveries was too little too late.
