Cardinals Kolb unfazed by Manning speculation
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb said he is unfazed about constituent speculation that his team may be interested in Peyton Manning should he be released by the Indianapolis Colts.
Kolb told his local tabloid, the Arizona Republic that he is fully recovered from his concussion which plagued his first season with the NFC West side and is not worried that the Cardinals are consistently linked to Manning should he be released by the Colts.
“I know how the NFL works,” Kolb to the Arizona Republic. “Anything is possible. I just try to keep my mind clear and do what I can on my end. I plan on having a great year and being a Cardinal for a long time.”
Kolb, who signed a five year deal worth $63 million (AUS $59 million) – $20 million (AUS $18.7 million) guaranteed – following being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles in the off-season.
The 27-year-old who was drafted in the second round in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Eagles is owned $7 million (AUS $6.6 million) in bonuses by March 17 and said “every indication on my end shows me that I’ll be there.”
Speculation has been rife that the Colts will release Manning, 36 who missed the entire last season following neck surgery.
The Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals are some of the teams that have been linked with the four-time league MVP should he be released by the Colts who are likely to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick at the up-coming draft.
