Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have all produced signature wins so far this tournament and on Tuesday Roger Federer delivered one of his own with a devastating straight sets victory over Juan Martin Del Potro.

Federer the world number three advanced to the 2012 Australian Open Men’s Singles Semi-Final following a straight sets 6-4 6-3 6-2 victory over Argentine Del Potro, the 11th seed in their Quarter-Final encounter out on Rod Laver Arena.

The 16-time grand slam winner needed two hours to surpass Del Potro and move into his ninth consecutive semi final appearance at the year’s first grand slam.

Federer, 30 got better and better as the match wore on and wrapped up the match in scintillating fashion as he advanced to his 30th grand slam semi-final appearance in what was his 1000th professional match.
